Launch Finance for Biodiversity Pledge

On September 25 at 15:00 CEST, 26 financial institutions will launch their Finance for Biodiversity Pledge during the United Nations Nature for Life Hub. Don’t miss it! In the Pledge, the participating banks, investors and other financial institutions will commit to start working for biodiversity. They will also call upon other financial institutions and heads of state to do the same, so that together we can help reverse global biodiversity loss.

Behind the scenes at NextGreen, we are working hard together with Anita de Horde to prepare for this historic event. The new website is now online and a film maker is busy creating videos in which the CEOs of these institutions make their statements for the launch.

The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge is an initiative by members of F@B Community, but has grown into an independent project. As lead of this European community, NextGreen and de Horde Advies were asked by the participating institutions to facilitate the collective Pledge.

We are delighted to invite you to join us for the launch during the UN Nature for Life Hub:

  • Friday 25 September 2020 at 15:00-16:30 CEST (9:00-10:30 AM EDT)
    Two signatory CEOs will contribute to the CEO panel and introduce our four-minute launch video during the opening session of the Business and Finance Day at the Nature for Life Hub. Join us for the livestream!

From 16:30 onwards, multiple CEO statements will be online at www.financeforbiodiversity.org.

After the official launch, the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge will also be brought to the attention of world Heads of State at the following UN events:

  • Monday 28 September, 15:00 – 16:30 CEST (9:00-10:30 AM EDT) during the first session of Nature for Life Hub’s ‘Global Ambition Day’, eight of the CEOs involved will read out the Pledge together in a one-minute video. The session also includes statements from 17 Heads of State.
  • Wednesday 30 September, 23:39 – 23:50 CET (17.39 – 17.50 EST) during the second Leader’s Dialogue at the UNGA 75 Biodiversity Summit, one of the CEOs will speak on behalf of the signatories of the Pledge in a three-minute speech. Join the live stream.
