Context
Biodiversity and climate can influence each other positively and negatively. For example, climate change contributes to nature loss, and nature conservation is necessary to combat climate change. However, solutions for biodiversity can have a negative impact on the climate and vice versa. This is referred to as the biodiversity-climate nexus. This guide provides the financial sector with insight into the most important solutions for both climate and biodiversity, and indicates how the negative impact can be limited.
Approach and activities
The guide was written by members of the Impact Assessment Working Group of the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation. It was published on November 18, 2026, ahead of Biodiversity Day at COP30, and supports the call for financial institutions to promote the link between climate and biodiversity.
