On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality, NextGreen organized the working conference 'Working together on resilient agriculture and nature' in collaboration with the Climate Adaptation Working Group.
Context
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Nature organized this working conference as part of its Climate Adaptation Agriculture Action Program (2020) of the LIFE-IP Climate Adaptation program, together with the Climate Adaptation Working Group of the Platform for Sustainable Financing. More than 80 participants from the financial sector, government, nature sector, agricultural organizations, and knowledge institutions attended the working conference to discuss strategies and concrete instruments for future-proof and climate-adaptive agriculture and nature in the Netherlands.
Objective
- Promoting a sense of urgency regarding climate adaptation in the financial sector;
- Joint understanding and identification of opportunities for collaboration, pilot projects, and actions;
- Strengthening the network and joint follow-up agreements.
Approach and activities
NextGreen provided support in drawing up the program, organizing the conference, production, facilitating the breakout sessions, and taking care of the report and communication.
The program of the meeting in broad terms:
Plenary opening, keynote speech 'Climate adaptation strategies for a natural and future-proof Netherlands' and perspective discussion 'Working together on resilient agriculture and nature.'
Six breakout sessions then explored concrete solutions for climate adaptation for agriculture and nature in greater depth.
