Guide for financial institutions to combat biodiversity loss. The Finance for Biodiversity Foundation calls on financial institutions to take action and outlines five steps to get started.
Context
Biodiversity is a relatively new topic for the financial sector: global targets are being negotiated, tools for measuring biodiversity footprints are coming onto the market, and regulations are being drafted. Amid these developments, this guide answers the question: 'What can financial institutions do now?' Because if we want to reverse nature loss in this decade, the financial sector must take action now. This guide shows what action is possible, using the data and tools currently available.
Approach and activities
This guide was written by members of the Impact Assessment Working Group of the Finance for Biodiversity (FfB) Foundation. The guide is based on the practical experience and knowledge of the authors. In addition, the manual draws on the results of the meeting organized by the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation in November/December 2021. During this meeting, the extent to which the financial sector has integrated biodiversity into financial decision-making was examined.
