The EU Business & Biodiversity Platform and the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation are launching the fifth edition of the Biodiversity Measurement Approaches Guide. We will discuss the latest developments in a joint webinar on June 17.

This updated guide provides financial institutions with practical tools to better measure biodiversity, integrate it into risk management, and translate it into opportunities and strategic decision-making.

What's new in the guide?

The new edition includes updated resources, real-world examples, and recommendations for various asset classes. The guide also introduces new insights for measuring the impact on marine ecosystems, a topic that is becoming increasingly important for financial institutions with global portfolios.

Webinar on June 17

During the webinar (1:00–2:00 p.m. CEST), the speakers will highlight the most important updates. In addition, UNEP FI experts will discuss the recent findings from the IPBES Business & Biodiversity Assessment and what they mean for the financial sector. A panel of experts will then discuss how biodiversity measurement will evolve in the coming years and what steps institutions can take right now.

Fifth edition

Given the great success of previous editions, we collaborated with the thirteen tool providers to make information about tools for measuring biodiversity impact as accessible as possible. The guide was first launched in 2020 in response to requests from the EU Finance & Biodiversity Community and the initial signatories of the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge.
