On September 25 at 3 p.m., 26 financial institutions will launch their Finance for Biodiversity Pledge during the United Nations Nature for Life Hub. Don't miss it! In this Pledge, banks, investors, and other financial institutions commit themselves to working on biodiversity in the coming years. At the same time, they call on other financial institutions and heads of state to join them in reversing global biodiversity loss.

Behind the scenes at NextGreen, Anita de Horde is working hard on preparations for this historic event. The new website is online and a filmmaker is making videos with CEO statements for the launch.

The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge is an initiative of a number of members of the F&B Community, but has grown into an independent project. As leaders of this European community, NextGreen and de Horde Advies have been asked by the participating institutions to facilitate the joint Pledge.

The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge will be presented at three different times during the 75th General Assembly of the United Nations – you are very welcome to watch!

  • On Friday, September 25, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (9:00-10:30 a.m. EDT), two signatory CEOs will contribute to the CEO panel during the Nature for Life Hub. They will launch the Pledge with the "Call upon global leaders" video by eight CEOs during the opening session of Business and Finance Day.

Following this official launch, we will also bring the Pledge to the attention of world leaders:

  • On September 28 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (9:00-10:30 a.m. EDT), eight CEOs will jointly make the Pledge in a one-minute video. This will take place during the first session of Global Ambition Day at the Nature for Life Hub, to which 17 world leaders are contributing.
  • On September 30, during the second Leader’s Dialogue of the UNGA 75 Biodiversity Summit, one of the CEOs will represent the signatories of the Pledge in a three-minute speech.
