Duration 2018
In a workshop with stakeholders in Heiloo, social revenue models were explored to ensure lasting greenery in the new residential area through the BioBorders concept.
Context
De Groene Reiger's BioBborders concept makes green gardens and biodiverse public green spaces a natural part of the neighborhood. The approach aims to attract buyers and tenants of new-build homes and take care of everything for them by offering suitable garden concepts in combination with support for planting and maintenance. The municipality of Heiloo is applying BioBborders in the new Melco neighborhood as a pilot project and part of the Green Capital program of the Province of North Holland. For the national DuurzaamDoor program, this practical case is part of the nature-inclusive construction participation table.
Objective
Securing green spaces in a new residential area using a joint multiple revenue model.
Process approach
To ensure the long-term preservation of green spaces in the neighborhood, NextGreen conducted a workshop with stakeholders involved in this pilot project in the municipality of Heiloo to explore possible social revenue models and pillars for new investment agreements. The workshop used the value wheel, a model developed by NextGreen that clearly shows at a glance which values are important to whom. It provides the basic information for a joint future-oriented investment balance sheet, for which NextGreen has developed the conceptual framework.
NextGreen also guides the development of revenue models in the Green Deal Green Roofs, such as greening taxes.
Partners: Province of North Holland, Municipality of Heiloo, real estate agent, Clusius College, project developer, construction company, landscape architect, and the local branch of the Groei&Bloei gardening association.
