Context
The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge was launched on September 25, 2020, by a group of 26 financial institutions. The number of financial institutions that have signed the Pledge has since grown to 200. Signatories to the Pledge contribute to the protection and restoration of biodiversity through their financial activities.
Approach and activities
The Finance for Biodiversity Pledge was initiated by members of the F&B Community of Practice. The Pledge has grown into an independent project funded by contributions from participating institutions. The Guidance document describes what it means for a financial institution to take responsibility for biodiversity loss. The document provides background information, resources, and examples of best practices.
